What We Do
Authors Inside focuses on combatting recidivism through the practice of writing to provide healing, reform, and a space for incarcerated individuals to tell their story.
Authors Inside delivers structured writing programs for justice-impacted youth and adults in collaboration with juvenile justice systems, community-based organizations, and institutional partners. We want to hear your voice, and offer you the chance to tell your story. We also offer editing and publishing programs to those who want to share their story with a wider audience. Our goal is to offer support to not only incarcerated or previously incarcerated individuals, but also to their families, to the community, and to at-risk youth.
We also offer a writer's guide and handbook as a resource for currently or previously incarcerated authors, and we aspire to one day open a resource center where we can offer literacy support to people with lived experience and their families.
